Aikido
is a non-competitive, non-aggressive martial art. Aikido
started in Japan, and now it is practised all over the world. Aikido
is about improving yourself from within. It is about developing
awareness.... of ourselves, of each other, and of our environment.
In
the dojo, kids learn to cooperate with each other, to move with grace
and
confidence. We do
stretching and warm up exercises and energetic games that improve
balance, coordination and
concentration. We introduce aikido principles and techniques,
especially emphasizing the art of
falling and
rolling.
Kids' body awareness and self-confidence increases noticeably.
We create an atmosphere of respect for
each other and the practice place. Along with having fun, this is how
we polish our spirit.
